Roe v. Wade has been on a collision with science from the beginning. Medical advances that have improved sonograms and pushed the viability date to around 22 weeks have only accelerated that collision. To be sure, however, the addition of Justice Kavanaugh to the nation’s high court has heightened hopes and fears that Roe’s demise is looming.

In response to the changing makeup of the Supreme Court, states like New York, Vermont, New Mexico, Illinois and a few others appear locked in competition for the dubious d...

The 86th Legislature of Texas has adjourned sine die, so let’s take a look at what pro-life measures passed:

HB 16 – The Texas Born-Alive Infant Protection Act – by Rep. Jeff Leach, sp by Sen. Lois Kolkhorst

This bill, waiting on the Governor’s signature, requires a hospital transfer for infants born alive, provides for a whistleblower hotline, and ups the penalties for doctors who don’t comply to a fine of at least $100,000, and makes the offense a third-degree felony.

While critics and the media describe babies surviving abortion as “extremely rar...

The pro-life movement has long opposed criminalizing women as it seeks to ban abortion because it protects the abortionist, while endangering the life of the mother. Our movement recognized early on you save the baby by saving the mother, and we have been doing just that for over 40 years.

Our nation’s legal history demonstrates a long record of targeting the abortionist, while treating the woman as a second victim. According to Americans United for Life’s Senior Counsel, Clarke D. Forsythe:

[The policy of targeting abortionists] was based on three...

Last week, the Senate held hearings on the Texas Born Alive Infant Protection Act (SB 23-Kolkhorst), and Informed Consent clean-up bill (SB 24-Lucio) and the bill that would prohibit local government contracts with abortion providers or their affiliates (SB 22-Campbell). All three were voted out of committee!  SB 22 was subsequently passed by the full senate and sent to the House for consideration. All of these bills are priorities for Texans for Life.

The Texas Born Alive Infant Protection Act was heard Monday of last week. Democratic memb...

A Post Roe World is inevitable, and no one knows it better than abortion advocates. They are fervently working to build firewalls in abortion friendly states around the country, New York and Virginia being neither the first, nor the most extreme.

Nine states have laws on the book protecting mostly unfettered abortion in the event Roe falls:  two allow for abortion throughout all nine months (NY and OR), eight protect abortion through viability (WA, MD, ME, HI, DE, CT and CA).  New Mexico is working to pass legislation that will protect abo...

Pro-Life Victories in the 85th Texas Legislative Sessions

August 7, 2017

With pro-life Republican Governor Abbott at the helm, and pro-life Republicans Joe Straus and Dan Patrick leading in the House and Senate, Texas continues to set the standard for protecting the unborn.

Nationally, abortion numbers have been in a downward trend for several years, even in blue states. In Texas, however, results have been dramatic. Annual abortions in Texas are at the 1977 level, even as our population has more than doubled. Our rate per 1,000 women has decreased from 29.2 to 9.5, compared to a national rate of 14.6.

This past spring s...

We made the Special Session, y’all!  But not before accomplishing a lot in the regular session!

Before we head back to the special session July 18, to work on several pro-life measures that have been included on “the call,” here’s a recap of the regular session which ended May 29th:

  • PASSED:  SB 8, which includes a state ban on partial birth abortion & fetal tissue research, provides for humane disposition of fetal remains, creates uniform definition of abortion (clean up that among other things excludes ectopic pregnancy).  Also bans dismemberment...

Houston-based Texas Right-to-Life Group singled out for making false and misleading statements this legislative session.

One of several pro-life groups in Texas recently sent out an email blaring, "They're scamming Pro-Life voters." My question is, who is really scamming whom?

This complaining group is attempting to define the pro-life movement and the success of the 85th legislature by one bill: the dismemberment ban.

This dismemberment ban targets one abortion procedure, dilation & extraction, and may never save a single baby. Senator Charles Per...

Spring is all about the celebration of new life. April showers have indeed brought May flowers. The natural beauty of Texas wildlife is on display and new flowers have begun to bloom. As we enjoy the sunny weather and celebrate signs of new life.  We should also celebrate all the work done by Lt. Governor Dan Patrick in the Senate and Chairman Byron Cook in the House to promote and support a culture of life in Texas.

Texas is blessed with an abundance of pro-life ministries, including approximately 200 pregnancy help centers. Our state has birthed ma...
