Captain Scott O'Grady

 A former United States Air Force Captain and fighter pilot, Scott O’Grady gained prominence after he ejected over Bosnia when his F-16 was shot down while he was patrolling the no-fly zone. He survived for almost six days, eluding Serb forces, until he was rescued by U.S. Marines.

 

 O’Grady was awarded the Bronze Star for heroism, a Purple Heart and the Air Force Commendation for meritorious service, and he continued to fly the F-16 three years after his rescue.
