DOCTORS ENDORSE ABSTINENCE EDUCATION

If your elementary-aged kids are in Catholic school, you probably feel pretty secure that they are somewhat protected from the evils of the day. Think again.

Over the objections of parents in Houston, Galveston and San Antonio, a new sex education curriculum aimed at grammar school children has been adopted by the local authorities.

In terms that rival the boldness and indecency of Planned Parenthood, explicit sexual material is offered to children as young as five years old.

Specifically, kindergartners are taught about the sexual intercourse of their parents, third graders (ages 7 and 8) are given the particulars of pedophilia and individual and mutual masturbation ("often accompanied or caused by reading or watching sexually graphic materials"). Oral sex is described in detail at the fourth grade level.

By the seventh grade, the topics are anal sex, impotency, sex toys, "S&M" (Sadism & Masochism), and bestiality. At every level of the teaching manuals, there is a subtle attempt to make all types of sexual activity appear normal and acceptable.

One of the consultants for the curriculum is Dr. Toinette M. Eugene, a self-described expert in "womanist and feminist ethics." Another consultant, Father Richard C. Sparks is the author of Contemporary Christian Morality: Real Questions, Candid Responses, a blatant promotion of moral relativism.

In his book, Fr. Sparks asserts that Christians have "no corner on the market of moral knowledge," and indeed have "no special knowledge." He presents Catholic doctrine on abortion as one opinion among many, and utterly fails to assert Biblical standards for abstinence outside marriage.

This program is being aggressively marketed in other parts of the country by publishing giant, Harcourt, Inc. According to a Harcourt representative, "It is on the mandatory list in various dioceses in the northeast part of the US, and is slowly making its way south."

If you think it can't happen in your schools, think of the mother in San Antonio, "I called and called, but no one would call me back and talk to me."

As Christians, we are given special knowledge, and we know that what our children want and need is not limitless information, but strong moral guidance. The TLC abstinence programs emphasize clear and virtuous standards, along with the help kids need to meet those standards. This is what our children crave. This is what keeps them spellbound on the edge of their seats when we present this message.

Growing in Love is a Trojan horse that is being rolled into the midst of unsuspecting Christians everywhere.
