Kelly Wright, co-anchor of Fox News Channel's "FOX and Friends Weekend", has provided special coverage for many of the nation's pivotal moments: Iraq, Katrina, Virginia Tech massacres and President Bush's final term. He is an accomplished gospel artist having shared the stage with greats such as James Brown, Vicki Winan and Shirley Ceasar.
Kelly Wright is co-anchor of "FOX & Friends Weekend" as well as a general assignment correspondent for FOX News Channel (FNC). The Hagertown, Maryland native also provides special reporting for FNC. His in-depth coverage has included Terri Schiavo's right-to-die case, the Abu Gharib prison scandal and the Katrina recovery. In April 2007, Wright secured an exclusive one-on-one interview with first lady Laura Bush in response to the Virginia Tech massacre.
While embedded with United States and British troops, Wright provided coverage on the historic U.S. handover of sovereignty to Iraq. Furthermore, he shed light on the extensive humanitarian efforts in Baghdad, Basrah and Mosul. Since Iraq, he has covered multiple presidential elections and reported live from Congressional Black Caucus functions. Before joining FNC, the two-time Emmy Award winner served as co-anchor of WVBT-TV's "News at Ten" in Norfolk, VA and reported for the 700 Club.
Wright is also an author. His new, anticipated-to-be bestseller, America's Hope in Troubled Times is now available at amazon.com. You will be able to purchase copies of his book at the banquet and he will be signing his book there as well.
Since age thirteen, Kelly Wright has performed professionally as a vocalist and entertainer. His musical roots began in his home church and quickly grew into more generalized venues such as New York City's legendary Cotton Club. Wright has shared the stage with such notable peformers as James Brown, Shirley Ceasar, Vicki Winans, Dottie Peoples and Ron Kenoly. His familar songs have been described as "messages of hope, redemption and salvation."
